Remote Learning 2.0
(effective 4/20 through end of year)

We will do periodic assignments to replace the store as best we can.
Each week I will send an email with the plan for the week. It will also be posted on Family Access messages.
Most of the class has moved to Microsoft Teams, make sure you can access regularly:
  • Login to Office 365 at www.office.com
  • Use your ISD credentials to login. The username and password should be the same you use to log into compueters at school
    • IMPORTANT: you need to add "@issaquah.wednet.edu" to your username to log in.
  • Once you are logged in, you can open the Teams App (either in the browser or by downloading the desktop app)

School Closure Update

The district is still developing a plan for to enable student learning during this unprecedented school closure. For now, there are no prescribed activities for this class. Please check here again on Monday, 3/23 for updates.

Course Overview

Students progress to Sales and Marketing 2 after the completion of the Sales and Marketing 1 course. Sales and Marketing 2 teaches more advanced business topics than the previous introductory level course. Sales and Marketing 2 teaches business skills through hands-on learning, as the majority of the class is focused on running the DECA Store. The DECA Store is open during both lunches every day, and provides Sales and Marketing 2 students with the opportunity to manage their own business. Students are either working various positions within the store, or working within the classroom to market and advertise the store. When not actually working in the store, students are divided into “specialty teams” that each focus on a different area of advertising. For the DECA aspect of the class, Sales and Marketing 2 students are required to compete in both a thirty page business plan and a role play. All students attend the Area 4 competition in January, and a majority of Sales and Marketing 2 students will compete at State. Ambitious Sales and Marketing 2 students have a strong shot at competing at Internationals as well.

Students progress to Sales and Marketing 3 after the completion of Sales and Marketing II. These students continue to develop their business experience by managing the stores. These students perform HR functions, accounting, inventory, vendor relationship, accounts payable, as well as promotion for the store. These students continue to compete in DECA events.
